Destination Peace at Hampton Beach - Walking Toward Peace
Destination Peace at Hampton Beach This morning, during our almost 3 mile walk along Hampton Beach, the waves were calm, the air was crisp, and the shoreline seemed to invite reflection. At the end of our walk, we paused before the New Hampshire Marine Memorial, a mother laying a wreath upon the sea, honoring those lost at sea in World War II. Standing there, we captured a photo that reminds us of the deep connection between place and purpose. The inscription, “Breathe soft, ye winds, Ye waves in silence rest”, speaks not only to remembrance but to the universal longing for peace. Hampton Beach itself has a history of resilience, rebuilt after devastating fires, recognized for its environmental purity, and sustained by community nonprofits like Experience Hampton. It is a destination where remembrance, renewal, and civic spirit converge. For Destination Peace, this walk is more than exercise. It is a living metaphor: step by step, destination after destination, we move toward healing, toward unity, toward peace. The memorial reminds us that peace is not abstract… it is something we encounter in daily life, in the places we walk, and in the communities we nurture.
