Musical Worlds Collide in Perfect Harmony

Canartic meets Cantorial; Cantorial meets Canartic

On February 23, 2017, ancient legendary musical worlds merged into one. It was such a rare occurrence that I figure it could probably span three total solar eclipses, if it has ever occurred to begin with!

A virtuosic fifth-generation master Hindu Canartic Hindustan violinist opened his majestic residence and shared his legacy of Hindu traditional music with a career half-century master American Jewish cantor who comes from a family of cantors. Not to mention it occurred in Varanasi, India on the night of the solemn festival Maha Shivratri (originating around the 5th century!).

This musical encounter took place in the state of Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state in India as well as the most populous country subdivision in the world. The state, located in the northern region of the Indian subcontinent, has over 200 million inhabitants.
