World Peace Day in Enugu

Peace begins with each of us. On September 21, 2025, World Peace Day brought more than 1,000 people together at The Base Landmark in Enugu, Nigeria. This wasn’t just a ceremony, it was a practical, hopeful day about how ordinary people can build more peaceful homes and communities, even in these difficult times.

What happened

  • Film premiere: The international premiere of the short film One True Voice, featuring the song If Only was presented. The film highlights how people from different cultures and political backgrounds can come together without losing what makes them unique.
  • Live music: SaxoHarry (saxophone) and Frecord (violin) brought energy and warmth to the audience. Their music underscored our belief that art can connect people.
  • Children lead the message: The Model Chorus performed songs about getting along. Their performances were a reminder that peace is easiest to learn when we start young.

Leadership and supporters

The event was led by visionary Chukwuma Ephraim Okenwa, who brought energy and a clear vision for practical peacebuilding. Other key contributors included:

  • HRM King Igwe Asadu spoke about peace in family and cultural life.
  • Professor Gazis Ogbodo, Head of the Institute of Management and Technology spoke about how schools can teach peace.
  • Alex Ogbodo, News Director at AFIA Television served as host and kept the program moving.

Together they showed that peace needs people from different backgrounds to work together.

New resources launched

  • Peaceful Homes podcast launched at the event and hosted by Uche and Chukwuma Okenwa. The podcast focuses on simple, practical ways to resolve conflicts and strengthen families and communities.
  • Book coming soon: Reclaiming Respect, a practical guide that offers tools for bringing respect into daily life at home, school, work, and into communities. It’s written for everyone: children learning kindness, teens managing friendships, parents building stronger homes, and adults leading in their communities.

Thank you

A big thank-you to LEAD Network Africa, Chukwuma Ephraim Okenwa, Professor Gazis Ogbodo, HRM King Igwe Asadu, Alex Ogbodo, and everyone who attended.
