Selective Bravery
We tell ourselves that standing up for others is instinctive, a reflex of the morally alert. But if we observe closely, a troubling pattern emerges. Many voices rise only when the cause is already popularized and the audience is safely nodding in agreement. Courage, like capital, often flows toward guaranteed returns.
This selective bravery betrays the very people who need advocates most.
At Destination Peace, we hold a steadfast conviction: no toddler, no child, no teenager, no mother or father, no creation of God is disposable anywhere on this planet. This conviction is not situational. The only exception we recognize is the defense of innocent life itself. When terrorists or violent criminals take innocent lives, stopping them through lethal means is not a contradiction of this principle but its fulfillment. Beyond this, our conviction does not bend for convenience. It does not calculate which life earns the most public sympathy before extending defense.
Respect is the missing measure in the symphony of peace. Without it, dialogue collapses into division. With it, difference becomes understanding. Respect cannot be rationed based on who is easiest to champion. It must reach the forgotten, the silenced, the communities the world has deemed too complicated or too inconvenient to defend.
The question is not whether someone deserves your voice. The question is whether your voice is truly yours to give, or whether it belongs only to the crowds already cheering.
