Destination Peace Monthly Digest October 2025

Insights, reflections, and updates from our peace-building journey.

Welcome Section

Dear Valued Supporters and Friends of Destination Peace,

Welcome to the October 2025 edition of the Destination Peace Digest. This month, we reflect on the extraordinary success of September’s World Peace Day celebration in Enugu, Nigeria, where over 1,000 attendees gathered at The Base Landmark Centre to witness history in the making. The international premiere of our documentary One True Voice, featuring the powerful song If Only, demonstrated how art and dialogue can unite diverse communities without compromising their unique identities.

We’re thrilled to announce that Reclaiming Respect, Emanuel C. Perlman’s transformative new book, will officially launch on October 16th and is now available for preorder at Barnes & Noble and other major booksellers worldwide. This practical toolkit for rebuilding civility and connection arrives at a crucial moment in our global journey toward understanding.

From the visionary leadership of Chukwuma Ephraim Okenwa to the inspiring performances by SaxoHarry and Frecord, and the wisdom shared by HRM King Igwe Asadu and Professor Gozie Ogbodo, September’s event proved that peace isn’t just an ideal, it’s a practice we can all embrace. This edition celebrates these achievements while looking forward to our expanding mission across continents.

With gratitude and hope,
Destination Peace

September 2025 Developments

Feature Story: World Peace Day Success, over 1,000 United for Peace

The September 21st World Peace Day celebration in Enugu exceeded all expectations, drawing more than 1,000 participants to The Base Landmark Centre for a transformative three-hour program. This wasn’t merely a ceremonial gathering, it was a practical, hope-filled demonstration of how ordinary citizens can cultivate peace in their homes and communities, even during challenging times.

Destination Peace’s founder, Emanuel C. Perlman, was honored as International Peace Honoree, recognizing his five decades of dedicated peacebuilding across 46 countries. The event seamlessly blended cultural celebration with actionable dialogue, creating a blueprint for community transformation that resonates far beyond Nigeria’s borders.

The international premiere of One True Voice captivated the audience. Its centerpiece song, If Only, performed live in a recording studio, became an anthem for the day’s proceedings embodying our belief that art can bridge even the deepest divides.

Key Moments from the World Peace Conference

  • Cultural Unity Through Music: SaxoHarry’s saxophone melodies and Frecord’s violin performances created an atmosphere of warmth and connection, proving that music truly is a universal language of peace.
  • Youth Leading the Way: The Model Chorus’s performance of peace songs reminded us that the next generation holds the key to lasting change. Their innocent voices carried profound messages of cooperation and understanding.
  • Leadership Convergence: Visionary leader Chukwuma Ephraim Okenwa orchestrated the event with remarkable energy and clarity. His collaboration with HRM King Igwe Asadu who spoke eloquently about peace in family and cultural life and Professor Gozie Ogbodo of the Institute of Management and Technology who outlined educational pathways to peace demonstrated the power of diverse leadership united in common purpose.
  • Media Excellence: Alex Ogbodo, News Director at AFIA Television, masterfully hosted the proceedings, ensuring the message reached audiences both present and remote.

Reclaiming Respect Book Launch

October 16th marks a milestone with the global release of Emanuel C. Perlman’s Reclaiming Respect. This isn’t just another book about peace, it’s a practical toolkit designed to transform how we interact with one another, starting with the fundamental human value that connects us all: respect.

In an era where division dominates headlines and civility feels like a lost art, Reclaiming Respect arrives as both a timely intervention and a roadmap forward. The book offers age-appropriate strategies and real-world applications for readers seeking to bridge divides in their communities.

Early readers describe it as “essential reading for anyone ready to reclaim our shared humanity.” Drawing from Emanuel’s experiences across 46 countries, the book weaves together stories of transformation, practical exercises, and actionable insights that readers can immediately apply in their daily lives.

Peaceful Homes Podcast Launch

The new Peaceful Homes podcast, hosted by Uche and Chukwuma Okenwa, officially launched during the World Peace Day event. This innovative series focuses on practical strategies for strengthening marriages, families, and communities. The podcast has garnered significant attention for its blend of wisdom, humor, and actionable advice.

Comparative Context and Future Directions

Building on September’s extraordinary success, we’re expanding our reach with engagements in Austria, Macedonia, Hungary, China, and Hong Kong for 2025–2026. Each location offers unique circumstances to adapt our peace-building model to different cultural contexts while maintaining our core message of respect and understanding.

The overwhelming response to both the World Peace Conference and the book launch confirms that our message resonates globally. We’re developing partnerships with educational institutions in each region to ensure sustainable, long-term impact beyond our initial visits.

Quote from Manny

“When over a thousand voices unite for peace, when children sing of harmony, when leaders from different spheres converge with common purpose; that’s when we know peace isn’t just possible, it’s already happening.”
